Missing Sài Gòn and it’s undefinable charm

It’s not the nightlife I miss as I’m a bit of a hermit but the buzz and energy of the city. It’s got this harmonious chaos. The honking is somehow almost in unison and the swerving of motorbikes is somehow elegant. The hope in the air is as thick as the pollution. The city is growing faster than anyone can keep up with. For some reason everything fits together like an awkward puzzle; the old and new, tidy and disheveled, brash and generous, harsh, soft and beautiful. The history is palpable and the sense of family and community that makes Vietnam so strong is indestructible.

Those sentiments aside, I’m thrilled to be by the mountains and ocean again!
